Wanda first got involved with the local PTA when her oldest daughter started elementary school, and she remained involved for the next 14 years until her second daughter graduated high school. She has served as the President of the Wake County PTA, sat on the North Carolina PTA Board, is chair of the Education Committee of the local Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the board of trustees for Wake Technical Community College.
Wanda has also served as a volunteer in an organization that conducts programs to address needs in specific communities. These programs include such topics as family management techniques and time management, or they focus on basic instructions for opening and using a checking account, or good nutrition and hygiene for children.
