Michael has been involved with a variety of community activities over the past few years. He recently co-authored a Phoenix community resource guide, dedicated to helping those grappling with mental health issues, which provides information, mental health resources, and support. Recently, Michael was a member of the VISTA program of AmeriCorps.
He worked with the Head Start program for three and four year olds, trying to introduce ideas about good nutrition and increasing physical activity into a group of 160 classrooms in the Phoenix area. Michael's second Head Start project was coordinating an annual "Literary Day" event for city kids, in which the youngsters all received a copy of the book Hop Jump.
