Huntington’s is a debilitating disease, and I want to contribute in my own small way to finding a cure.
Melinda's dad suffered from Huntington's disease for many years before finally passing away while Melinda was in college. Ever since eighth grade, Melinda has made it her mission to increase general awareness about the illness and raise funds for its research and cure. And she has been very creative about it.
She's collected donated items for personal hygiene baskets for HD patients and started an annual benefit dinner to raise funds for HDSA when she was a senior in high school. Along the way, Melinda has also been a member of the national HDSA and a board member of the National Youth Alliance of HDSA. She currently is the youth coordinator of the Connecticut affiliate of HDSA and continuously speaks out about the HD Community.
