A chance meeting on an airplane connected Maureen E. O’Brien to Cabot’s video producer who was documenting the volunteer work of Cabot’s Community Celebrities. Maureen admired Community Celebrity program and shared this years later with our staffer who conceived of the cruise, Roberta MacDonald. Though recently widowed, Maureen’s sense of adventure has not diminished and she admitted that going to Alaska was on her bucket list. Ironically, Maureen grew up on a dairy farm in Shelburne, Vermont and is also a graduate of the University of Vermont.
We made this first-ever offer for Maureen to pay her own way and join the celebrities because of the amazing charitable work of her employee-owned, Vermont based company PC Construction.
“We like to be engaged in the communities where we work – beyond just building or improving water quality as the job,” said Maureen.
PC Construction now gifts over $15,000 to local non-profits annually – a characteristic of their operating ethic that Cabot emulates among our Gratitude Department programs.
