Volunteering is a great way to learn about different issues facing our society and be exposed to different things. In helping others, you end up learning a lot.
Kelly Doyle is passionate about helping others. Growing up in New York City, she learned the value of helping others through school service trips and as she graduated from Fordham University, realized she wanted her career to involve the non-profit sector.
She got her masters in Environmental Sustainability from the City College of New York and has been working to help coordinate volunteers and arrange corporate volunteer outings for Partnerships for Parks.
“We work with communities to get them more involved in their parks,” said Kelly. “New York City has so many small parks and we work to clean them up and transform them into community assets.”
Kelly also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and works find opportunities to help others through her college alumni volunteer group, including at Xavier Mission, a soup kitchen in the city. Cabot found Kelly through her work with the 9/11 Day of Service.
“I’ve always liked volunteering my time,” said Kelly. “If I am able help somebody out, then I believe I should. Volunteering is a great way to learn about different issues facing our society and be exposed to different things. In helping others, you end up learning a lot.”
In her spare time, Kelly likes playing tennis and basketball. She also enjoys walking around to find new nooks and crannies in New York City and may be known to binge watch a television show or two. She will be joined by her sister Kristin Doyle on the cruise and we hope she will learn all about Reward Volunteers onboard!
