It seems like I just can’t say no when the Humane Society calls. I know it means a lot less sleep and a big commitment for me, but I guess I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t love it so much.
Kathleen is the first person the local Humane Society calls when they have a new litter of kittens or puppies that's been abandoned. She cares for the infants from their first days of life, feeds them every two hours, cleans them with baby wipes, and nurses them to health as if she were their mother.
Kathleen is also an Army brat and, for good measure, married to an Army officer. That's why she is concerned about the families of deployed soldiers, as well as the soldiers themselves. Kathleen helps collect care items for the deployed soldiers such as books, non-perishables, toiletries, and whatever comforts of home she and her friends can put together to send to the troops.
