Jo Sabel Courtney, daughter of a farmer, was born in Indiana, but her pursuits have taken her around the country. From theatrical study in New York City to ranch work in Colorado. She has also lived in Denver, Boston, Chicago, the Virgin Islands, and Newport, Rhode Island, before landing in Stowe, Vermont nearly thirty years ago.
It was in Vermont that she pursued the world of public relations, promotions and events, as international marketing and public relations manager for Stowe Area Association. She then went out on her own working for a wide range of organizations, specializing in, but not limited, to travel and tourism and the performing arts. At Cabot she is part of the boomer and healthy aging team that helps build relationships with other organizations like AARP. Jo also travels the country offering the farmers’ thanks to organizations that help to create and sustain healthy communities.
Community service and involvement is vitally important to her. She was co-founder of the cancer-survivor event, Stowe Weekend of Hope - which was entered into the Congressional Record by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders – as well as the Stowe Theatre Guild. She has served on many boards and committees with an eye to bettering her community, including the Stowe Free Library Board of Trustees and the Vermont Arts Council Board of Trustees. She looks forward to interacting with the Cabot celebrities to find new connections and grow relationships towards the goal of aging well.
