2014 Celebrity Cruise Honoree
Heather Lindner's mom was an avid animal lover, who volunteered doing animal rescue and transport for many years--and her passion rubbed off on Heather.
Heather is an emergency dispatch operator for Chester County, PA, as well as an EMT and firefighter for the East Whiteland, PA Fire Company. She has loved and worked with animals all her life, and started volunteering with her county animal response team about six years ago.
In part due to her line of work, Heather knows that one of the problems that besets people who have faced a natural disaster or home fire is finding care for their pets while they get their lives back in order. Helping fill that important gap is what Red Paw Emergency Response Team is all about, and it's an organization Heather works with closely.
Red Paw rescues animals and finds them temporary homes until their owners can take care of them again. If their original owners are unable to resume care of the pets, Red Paw goes to work finding them new homes. Heather helps transport displaced pets to temporary or new homes, brings supplies to the foster pet owners, and works the phones looking for new homes for the pets as needed. Heather also occasionally fosters pets herself, and has hosted a menagerie of animals in her home, including African gray parrots and all manner of cats and dogs.
In between working twelve-hour shifts and rescuing pets at every turn, Heather is working towards her Associate's Degree. Her friend and co-worker, Stacy Catren, joins Heather on the cruise.
