My heart goes out to the families who have lost service members. I want their memories and their service to be honored.
After Anne's son James passed away last year, Anne redirected her volunteer focus. James was on active duty in the Navy as funeral co-coordinator, rendering full military burial honors for fallen servicemen and women. After he passed away, Anne made it her mission to help the families of fallen soldiers and sailors and to make sure we honor the service of these heroes.
That first Christmas, Anne sent emails, raised funds, organized like-minded people, and was able to place 800 wreaths on graves at the Veterans Cemetery. Guidelines have now been established, and this will be an annual event. Anne has assisted at many fundraising events for the New England Gold Star Mothers Memorial Statue. Anne also works to support the Liberty House, which is a veterans' homeless shelter in Manchester.
